All carry God's image and deserve dignity
At Holy Cross, we believe in following the Jesus Movement—walking in love, seeking justice, and embracing all of God's children. Our faith affirms both ancient wisdom and continued revelation through thoughtful engagement with scripture.
Nurturing young spirits through age-appropriate formation, making faith accessible and engaging for our youngest members.
Supporting households of all configurations as they grow together in faith and community life.
Affirming the full dignity and inclusion of all sexual orientations and gender identities in every aspect of church life.
Welcoming those with questions, doubts, and varied spiritual backgrounds to explore faith in a supportive environment.
We honor time-tested prayers, music, and ritual movements that connect us to centuries of faithful Christians.
We bring our intellect to faith, asking questions and exploring theology through scripture, tradition, and reason.
We embrace God's ongoing revelation, recognizing divine love extends beyond human boundaries and categories.
We translate our beliefs into meaningful action, serving our neighbors as Christ's hands and feet in the world.
Holy Cross emerged from the faithful union of St. Albans and St. Thaddaeus Episcopal Churches, combining rich histories to create a vibrant spiritual home in Hixson.
We stand proudly in the progressive Episcopal tradition, honoring time-tested liturgy while embracing inclusive theology that respects all people.
Our church family is committed to meaningful worship and active service to our neighbors throughout the Chattanooga area.
Our central act of worship where we experience Christ's presence through bread and wine, following Jesus's command to "do this in remembrance of me."
The sacrament marking full initiation into Christ's Body, welcoming people of all ages into the community of faith through blessed water.
We celebrate life's important moments through confirmation, marriage, reconciliation, anointing for healing, and ordination—all channels of God's grace.
You'll be warmly welcomed at the door and offered a service bulletin to guide you through worship. Don't worry about "doing it right" - our community will help you navigate the service. Stay for coffee hour afterward to meet fellow parishioners!
Not at all! Visitors from all faith backgrounds (or none) are welcome. All baptized Christians may receive communion, and everyone is invited to participate in our community life and service opportunities.
